Last Day at Infosys!!...(My last day mail)

Finally I have to write this "Its my last day in Infosys" .. . Believe me when I joined Infosys I never wanted to write this, my dream was to build and raise my career with Infosys, because like any other engineering student (other than from IIT's ) , my dream was also to join Infosys and do something great with computers/softwares. So when I got selected in Infosys it was like a dream come true for me.
There is not much difference between a Infosys training class and college lecture except the teachers and other students. Those who got their training from Mysore may not agree with me... because of the 5 star facilities provided in Mysore DC.
After training it was time to get some real projects where the training syllabus does not help at all.(Infosys has extended the training to 8 months but still its a start from scratch for a new joinee when he joins a project after training, I wonder what they teach in a 8 month long training!! )
I also got my first project then second then third project... all projects were a new learning experience for me,some were delivered successfully some of them where only POC's and some scraped during requirement phase.. :D , but by that time I have realized that what actually Infosys is and how it works.
Infosys a service industry and it service only clients, anything for clients. Its like a shop which offer services as per demand from clients. You have to be lucky enough in Infosys to get an IBU which has more development projects than line maintenance and support project, where you end up in closing tickets in night shifts or keep doing the repetitive work.
I didn't mean that this kind of work is bad and one should't do this, but when you come with aspirations of doing something innovative in software development, when you join some company to continue what you have chosen as your career, and you are put in any kind of project irrespective of your interests and talent then it shatters your career.

On-sites is the second most attractive and lucrative thing in Infosys, I have seen people discussing about onsite from the very first day of their training .. :) well in this industry sooner or later you will get onsite for sure... people try their best to get on-site as soon as possible ..some keep dancing over their managers head.. some who are close to managers get their visa initiated ages before the project actually comes to DC and everybody keeps it a secret if their H1-B visa is initiated. :D. Well I have not done any of the above mentioned things for on-site and perhaps that's why I am still at offshore.. :)

I was lucky enough to get many development projects and I performed very well in all of them and learned a lot but then my good luck came to an end and I got stuck in monotonous work in a project , it was more than a year and my learning was totally stopped, I talked to people for release but nothing happened. So finally I had to put my resume over internet and search for better jobs. I was little disappointed, but thought that may be release from project is not that easy so I have to move out, but I was shocked with the options given when I filed e-separation.
I was offered-Onsite in any project ,H1,L1 visa, release from the project/getting project of my choice, almost everything. They were willing to do ANYTHING to stop me from leaving ...everything was made possible like there was never any issue... :)(e-separation made the things very easy for me in Infosys). But I had made my decision and cannot change it now , so I politely refused.
I thought that I will get release easily after completing my KT and all the responsibilities but "Leaving a Job is harder than getting a Job". I have to make n number of calls and mails to get a confirmed released date.
Well I think I have written enough about Infosys.. :)
Finally everything ended in a good note.
It was Infosys who made me a good software professional from a fresh college graduate. I have learned a lot in these 3.4 years with Infosys and enjoyed my time here , I will miss the IAM team. Infosys blogs, staying late night in office for deliverable's, leaving early on Friday's, parties without any reason,on the spot award, daily food court at 12, friends from my training batch these are some things which I will never get back. With many of you, I have shared a unique camaraderie which I hope will continue in the years to come even though I shall not be here with the company.
I do wish you and the company every success in all it future endeavors.

"Say No to Milk"

I never liked drinking milk as a kid. My mother always used to push me for drinking milk. She tried all stuffs available like "Bournvita,Milo,Complan" etc... and I always tried to escape from it.Finally one day I read an article(by menka gandhi) in newspaper that Drinking Milk is not good for health and was able to convince my mother that milk is not good for health.(well not actually able to convince..but I moved to hostel after school so no more milk... he he)..
Many years passed and I forgot about that article. But few days ago I was having a discussion with my friend about diet and fitness. Her point was that drinking milk is good for health it increases stamina and make bones stronger. But but I have to prove my point, so I searched the same article again using google.

chk the link below for the article

Vaishno Devi trip

The pahadi guy, jain sahab and chowdhury ji started their journey on Friday night 31 jul by private super A.C Coach Bus(description of bus written in travel agent's shop).Chowdhury ji and jain sahab reached Krishan Travels by correct time but the pahadi guy got late because of his project issues (stop watch in mobile .. :P).But finally pahadi guy also reached and all three boarded the bus by 9:00 PM.Chowdhury ji has bought lots of cake, lays and namkeen, and all three started munching the junks as soon as the bus started. After some time the phadai guy and jain sahab were lost in dreams and only chowdhury ji was awake and playing games in his mobile, messaging and listening music. After 12.00 PM chowdhury ji was also lost in dreams... :P.The bus was very comfortable and all three got a sound sleep. But Chowdhury ji woke up at 4:00 am when rain water started flowing over him from the edge of windows due to heavy rainfall.Chowdhury ji got sacred... :P but rainfall stopped as soon as the bus reached at Lakhnapur stop. They reached Jammu by 5:00 am, both jain sahab and chowdhury ji were up by that time but the pahadi guy was still lost in his dreams. The weather was awesome after Jammu, bus conductor also switched off the AC and opened the windows to let the fresh cool air come in... :) Jain sahab and chowdury ji enjoyed the awesome weather but the pahadi guy did not realized it.Finally he sensed the morning just before they are about to reach Katra. They book a hotel in Katra for 400 bucks and after taking a little rest they came out for breakfast. Jain Sahab and the pahadi guy ordered 2 alloo and 2 ghobi ke paranthe, they were expecting some good punjabi style paranthe, chowdhury ji was bit confused but after looking at jain sahab's and pahadi guy's confidence chowhdury ji also ordered 1 ghobi ka parnatha. he he .. but guess wat... Parantha's were pathetic half cooked in tandoor, it was very difficult to figure out what to call that thing parantha ,or roti or something else like "pahadi parantha"... lol :D. After breakfast chowdhury ji brought yatra ka ticket, there was no rush at all chowdhury ji was alone in the queue of tickets. All three started their first trip to vaishno devi (Jai Mata Di). But as soon as they started.. the ghoda wala's started jumping over them.... "ghoda kar lo sahab hoda kar lo sahab.. ".The whole road was covered with shit of horses , after covering few meters they realized there are more horses than man on the way and lots of shops on both sides of road. They thought the journey's is going to be very boring if the whole road will be like this only, they had something else in their mind they thought it will be nice track with lots of natural beauties to see..They were disappointed... :( But after moving few km's more, the shops started reducing and weather also got changed. The beautiful mountain top, covered with clouds was clearly visible now, they clicked lots of photos. They were more excited now to reach at the top and in to the clouds... :).The pahadi guy was very excited about the stairs his pahadi blood was forcing him towards the stairs but chowdhury ji and jain sahab were not ready to go by stairs so pahadi guy has to follow them...he he. The ghoda wala's on the way annoyed them a lot but then they reached a point where the road was divided in two directions one was not allowed for horses so they took that one.A very good decision made by them .. their were no horses and no horse shit at all on that road. All three clicked lots and loads of times on that way with jain sahab's brand new digital camera.... (10 mp optical zoom) ,pahadi guy also tried to climb over the pahad to get clicked,, :P lol and after few more kilometers they were into the clouds. They were super excited and tired also but the awesome weather did not let them realize it. Finally they reached Bahwan, there was no rush but still they were not even allowed to stop for a second in the gufa(cave).Chowdhury ji was just trying to figure out where to look, which is the actual pindi and the security wala pushed him to exit, same happened with the pahadi guy and jain sahab. They even didn't get proper time to pray or make their wish. It was raining heavily when they came outside. So they decided to have lunch and went to 'arveez resturaant ' near bhawan, jain sahab and the pahadi guy ordered rajam chawal and chowdhury ji opted for tali... the food was good. After food jain sahab wanted to have some sweet so the pahadi guy brought 2 plate kacche (half cooked) gulab jamun and 1 plate (pathetic) jalebi's. The pahadi guy tasted only the brown portion of the gulab jamun's.... :P
After vaishno devi the next stop was bhairon ghati 1.5 km from vaishno devi. But it was like 15 km, the pahadi guy, jain sahab ,chowdhury ji somehow managed to reach bhairon ghati. Finally at bharon ghati jain sahab and the pahadi guy got stove made tea. They don't like nestea and all that dip wali tea.. :).Chowdhury ji never tasted tea in his life... he he :)
From bharo ghati they started thier return journey, they thought it will not take much time to get down but it took 3 hrs...!!. On the way a monkey snatched the bag of prasad from jain sahab's hand...:P jain sahab tried to hold it but monkey won and got his prize (the prasad)... :P.
All three were down by 10:30 pm. For dinner they preferred Sagar Ratna after bad experience of parantha's at local restaurants in morning.. :). The pahadi guy wanted to have ice cream somewhere outside after dinner but chowdhury ji was not ready to walk anymore. Their legs were paining like hell and now they just want to go back to hotel and sleep sleep and sleep....
Next morning they did the same mistake again, they went to a local restaurant and ordered a parantha.. :P. After breakfast they started from Katra and reached Jammu by 11:00. Their train was at 2 :00 pm so they decided to visit the famous Ragunath temple. The temple was good but no camera's allowed so the pahadi guy and chowdhury ji were bit disappointed. They came back to station but the fans on the platform's were not working and weather was horrible in Jammu. It was very difficult for them to wait on the platform for 2 hours,
the pahadi guy was sweating badly but then chowdhury ji suggested them to buy a newspaper and sit on it at the end of platform.. :P, that place was quite airy. The train arrived on time and Jammu was the starting point, but still the train started 1 hr late... gawd ..Indian railways.Jain sahab took the upper berth and slept as soon as the train started, pahadi guy was busy smsing his rommie about his captured Almira in his absence.. :P. Though train started late but still reached Ambala by time and the pahadi guy, jain sahab and chowdhury ji were at their rooms by 11:00.. :).

P.S - he he he ... the story of three friends (the pahadi guy, jain sahab, chowdhury ji)

Birthday Rituals

Visit blogadda.com to discover Indian blogs

Last week my friend celebrated his b'day in one of the city's finest restaurant. We ordered our favorite items from menu ...enjoyed a lot.It was fun no doubt but when I came back I was lost in my thoughts, some good old memories were flashing back in my mind. How I use to celebrate B'days when I was a li'l kid .Eagerly waiting for my friends to come at home .My mom preparing many dishes (palak paneer, pulao,my fav bhindi etc. etc. and the very special kheer)for my small b'day party at home(though I never tasted kheer in my life coz I hate milk products :P but still it is always prepared as a ritual) .Playing the most common game of passing chits to each other and then each person has to do whatever is written on the piece of paper.Cutting a small cake bought by my dad. And finally opening all the gifts after everybody is left .. :) (Pen sets, Lunch boxes, Water bottles,Sketch colors..etc etc wow I got lots of gifts :) ) .Going school in casuals and distribute chocolates to all the classmates. Those were the days but with time we grow up and the ways of celebrations also change. In college the ritual is to get b'day bumps on the b'day night there is no escape from it your friends will hit you hard with sleepers and shoes :P :P.Then on next day treat to friends in canteen and a special dinner party in night to the hostel mates at a dhabba on highway near college.Sitting over the charpai's and having that delicious and spicy dhabba food and gossiping with friends this combination made every b'day celebrated there very special and unforgettable.

Now in office the ritual is cutting cake and pasting it on b'day boy's face. Then party in some lavish restaurant with colleague cum friends and gossiping about movies, places to explore, projects, job change and on sites. This too is fun if you have a nice group in office. We are still trying to maintain the old ritual of giving b'day bumps and celebrations in office but this phase will also pass with time.

Well that's all I know about Birthday Rituals in different phases of life. But whatever the way of celebration is b'day always bring smile on your and your friends faces, you get a chance to party hard and enjoy a lot... :)

B'day is one special thing of life that happen to you every year and but still it always bring something new to your life.

P.S - All thoughts are based on my own life it may differ from yours....

Unanswered questiosn ??

From last few days 3 questions are coming to my mind 1. What happens after we die? 2.Does god exist 3. Why we are here?
I believe in god. I go to temple but still I don't know the answers of my questions and I know I ll never be able to get answers of these questions in my life.
There are hundred's of proof of god's exisistance but still the question is same is there any place called heaven or hell?
What you think about these questions

P.S - Readers keep enjoying your life to its fullest don't get bemused after reading this post.

Indian Train.. :) A wonderful experience

Blog on Indian Train this thought came to my mind while going for vacation last week so after vacation I got some time to write and the blog is here for all of you... Read it and recollect your memories of train journey's you made.... :)
Platform Number,Waiting List,TTes,Station Master,Tatkal,RAC,Sleeper Class,1-AC,2-AC,3-AC, General Coach. Almost every Indian is familiar with these terms.

Part-1 Waiting Room - My all train journey starts from the waiting room of my source railway station. If you have a confirm ticket and your train is yet to arrive then you can wait in these waiting rooms.Indian railway generally have two types of waiting room for lower class and for upper class but there is not much difference between them,in waiting rooms you will find some workers of Indian Railways lying flat over the chairs and some 2-3 families some waiting for the trains some trying to struggle with the power point to charge their mobiles.Believe me waiting room is the most boring place of a station how energetic you are if you spent more than 30 min in waiting room it will suck all your energy and will make you the most laziest person of this world. So I always prefer to wait and roam around platform rather than waiting rooms.

Part-2 Platform - Platform where you can see people hailed from different cultures of India. You will see families with lots of luggage and hollering kids. You will never get bore on platform.I remember last year when my train was 9hrs late and I have to spent almost 10 hrs on platform. In this 10 hrs I observed every train coming to that station , I have seen people from every part of India.I remember one incident not exactly incident but something which I observer very carefully...I was sitting on a bench next to the 1Re. Telephone Box.A man with his wife came and tried to make a local call from that phone but the phone was not working properly he tried 3 times but it doesn't worked and his 1 Re coin got stuck in third attempt and he left the phone disappointedly. After that 2-3 people came and tried to make the call but couldn't make call and lost their coin. Then I realized that people who are trying to make call from this phone are very poor and lose of 1 Re is very big for them, so I thought next time if somebody will come to make a call I will them him that phone is not working.I stopped 5-6 people from making any call from that phone then I left to buy a water bottle but when I came back I saw a man struggling with the phone box he was hitting it hard by something in his hand he was trying to get his coin out of the box ,his wife and two children's with runny nose were standing behind him,he started screaming and abusing the railway authorities, people gathered around him and then a RPF man took him away, after that I also left that place thinking that these things will never change on the stations.
One more incident - I was waiting for my train on New Delhi station on platform no5. but suddenly an announcement was made that train to Bhiar (I am not pointing to any community but this is actually what happened) is arriving on platform No. 5 shortly and after that announcement people started coming from everywhere to that platform , they were not using the bridge made to cross platforms they were crossing the railway lines with their small squawking kids and family.. many of them were carrying big heavy boxes on their head, but still they were easily crossing the lines and climbing to the platform, the height between platform and rail lines is around 5feet and its not easy to climb 5 feet with that heavy boxes on your head.. I was amazed to see all this and thought man these people can beat any of the Roadies in Raghu's tasks :). They were actually competing with each other to rush the platform and board the train asap. The train arrived and at the same time some policeman also came holding lathi's in their hand and yelling at people to make a queue otherwise the doors of the train will not be opened. They started making queue by brawling and pushing each other, the policeman's also jumped into that brawl with their lathi's... finally the door of the train was opened and after some time everybody was inside the train.Thank god I was not going in that train.. Indian railway is the biggest employer in India but still there are less trains and more people...
Some most common things on platform are chai wala's their tone of saying chai chai its very unique , puri and aloo ki sabzi wala's stalls I had tried puri alloo ki sabzi once, man the taste was terrible aloo ki sbazi had only oil and water no aloo at all .. the railway canteen's at some platform's are is still a better option. Some metro city stations like Delhi now have restaurants like cum-sum but they are out of reach for normal people.

Part- 3 Inside Train - Indian trains have a very good and tricky arrangements for sleeper and sitting if its daytime then just use the berths as seats and in night pull the berths up and it will become sleeper.. ).You will meet and see different kind of people inside the train hailed from different cultures and speaking different languages.I remember in one of my train journey a family was traveling with a small kid, the kid was crying very badly his mother was trying her best but the he was not ready to stop crying and then suddenly the grandmother of the kid started shouting on his mother that she doesn't know how to manage kids and why she is not doing this or why she is doing that, and then the kid's mother also repelled back and guess what.... !! they started fighting in the train leaving the kid with his father. The only thing that came to my mind at that time was the sass -- bhauu soaps and the reality in India....:).
Now something about the different classes of train---If you are traveling in sleeper class then the bad thing is that TTes allow people with waiting list/general ticket also to board the train by charging few extra bucks, you will find them sleeping in the corridor or on the floor between the two berths or sitting at the edge of one's berth. These things really make the journey very insecure. In AC Coaches non reserved people are not allowed so journey is bit safe in A.C. Class. In Rajdhani or Shatbadi trains you will get lots of things to eat and drink, journey in Rajdhani or Shatabdi is always a nice experience. General class-- :) I used to travel in general class from Jaipur to Alwar during my college days its a 1:30 hr journey by train and only general class trains run between these two stations,in general class forget about the seat even of you get a place to stand which is not close to toilet then think you got skills to travel and find right place in general class coaches... lol
But whether it is a AC coach or sleeper class the Indian trains are not very good in terms of sanitary conditions you can always locate a cockroach trying to hid behind the fans installed in the trains or in the small gaps between the metal strips of train walls... :)

There are so many challenges and flaws but still Indian Railway simply Rocks.

P.S - I have lot more things to write about Indian train cannot write all in single blog.
P.P.S - irctc.co.in website is the biggest e- commerce site.
P.P.P.S - If you have not experienced any Indian train journey yet then please go for it once.

Elections

Elections - I want to write something about elections in India. Actually I want to write about the procedure of selection of PM in India as compared to US and UK. Its totally different here (I am not 100% sure but I think its different).. Read my points below and think about it and correct me if I am wrong

Why there are so many political parties in India? This creates a lot of confusion.I really don't understand the logic. We discuss a lot about who will become our prime minister,  but we don't play any role in that , we are not voting for the prime minister directly. For example I want Atal ji as my prime minister and he belongs to BJP party so I should vote for BJP party, but the good candidate from my region is  from SP , so I should vote for him but if SP will get majority then they will imply new rules like no computers, no English, and somebody like maya vati will become prime minister. I will be happy to see my favorite candidate winning from my region but SP as nation ruler is not digestible. So I think this is a big disadvantage of having N*N number of parties. In US and UK there are very limited parties it is very easy for people to decide and vote.I don't know about the procedure in US but it seems fairly easy and simple ,there are mainly 2 candidate for example Obama and Bush, visibility is clear, people know whom to vote, similarly in UK there are only few parties.
I always give vote, this time I also going to give vote from my place, jaago re.com is good initiative for people who are not registered for voting or who are living at some different place.I checked the website jaago re! they have mentioned clearly the voting procedure and also explained the some myths about voting, but I didn't get answer of my question.
Second confusing thing is suppose there are 3 parties first get 57 votes second get 36 and third get 42 votes so ideally the winner is first party but if you calculate then 36+42=78 don't like first party only 57 people voted for the first party so why the first party is winner if more people dislike first party.(I read it somewhere in school)

These kinds of doubts confuse me a lot about the voting but still this voting procedure comes under our Indian constitution which was designed by some of the great leaders like  Jawaharlal Nehru, C. Rajagopalachari, Rajendra Prasad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee , so this thing again confuse me that how they can be wrong maybe my doubts are silly and there is no logic behind my doubts.

P.S - Voting procedure should be on line.Just log in and give vote to your candidate.
P.P.S - Go for vote in morning and enjoy rest of the day because its a holiday.
